I was born at Aker Hospital in Oslo in 1965 and lived at Kjelsås in
Oslo for 3 months before we moved to Skårer, Lørenskog in Akershus county. I lived there until I was around 20. I was a "horse girl" from the age of 9 and bought my own horse at 16. I have many years behind me as a soccer player in Lørenskog IF and was also part of the first girls' team in the club from the start in 1975. Car accidents, injuries and permanent damage from these have unfortunately put an end to further soccer play for me. The football boots are now permanently on the shelf.
Schooling: I completed my primary school years at Skåreråsen (grades 1-3), Nordliåsen (grades 4-6) and Løkenåsen junior high school (grades 7-9). I then took one year at a business school, one year at an agricultural school and as an adult I took the general university entrance exam. I have a philosophicum degree from the University of Oslo, genealogy studies from Volda University College (online studies), genealogy studies and a faculty degree from the University of Tromsø (online studies). I am also studying history at Volda University College (also online studies). The plan is that I will get a bachelor's degree in history sometime in the future.
After I moved from Lørenskog, I have lived in several places before I ended up here at Hagan, Nittedal. Over the years I have also worked in a variety of jobs, including being a trotting trainer (horses) and stable manager, professional genealogist (where I took on assignments) before I ended up in my current job at the National Archives in Norway - Oslo (regional and local government
administration). There I work as a case handler and case manager.
I 'm an animal lover and have almost always had animals around me - horses, dogs, rabbits, cats and birds. Today I have a mixed breed dog, Kira.
I am very fond of Norwegian nature and have been all over Norway many times. I also really enjoy hiking in forests and fields, but prefer mountain hikes and I'm like a "mountain goat" when the opportunity arises. I also thrive in more southern regions, in places that are not overrun by other tourists.
I am also a musician, vocalist, and am currently part of the band, Norwegian Mood.
I have been interested in genealogy most of my life, I started when I was 12-13 years old. I also have, as previously mentioned, genealogy studies from both Volda University College and the University of Tromsø. However, it's family history in particular that interests me the most (the history of people from cradle to grave, not just the skull of it). In this connection, I have visited many archival institutions around Norway, searching for and collecting exciting family stories. The plan is that this genealogical material will someday be turned into books.
I have previously been very diligent and productive in transcribing old writing, and in this connection have written from sources from my area of expertise, Ytterøy parish (parish of Ytterøy, Mosvik and Verran) in Nord-Trøndelag county: Church books, censuses and electoral rolls, probate registers, military rolls, etc. I have also been part of the "village book" project on Ytterøy.
The transcriptions I have made have been carried out under the auspices of Slekt og Data and under my own auspices. Transcriptions made under my own auspices are searchable at the Digital Pension, the Digital Archive. The transcriptions I have made under the auspices of Slekt og Data are at the Digital Archive. I have also previously been part of Slekt og Data's Church Book Registration Project, where I mainly worked on uncertainty checks.
I'm also a member of various genealogical associations and history groups: Ytterøy History Group, Mosvik History Group, Veldre History Group, Ringsaker History Group, Sør-Østerdals Genealogical History Group, Sør-Aurdal History Group, Strinda History Group, Slekt og Data, Norwegian Genealogical History Association, etc.
